Apple confirmed on Tuesday the death of a man who worked at an iPhone plant in China.

According to various Chinese media reports, the worker at Chinesemanufacturer Foxconn committed suicide last week after afourth-generation iPhone prototype for which he was responsible wentmissing.

"We are saddened by the tragic loss of this young employee, and weare awaiting results of the investigations into his death," Applespokeswoman Kristin Huguet told CNET on Tuesday. "We require oursuppliers to treat all workers with dignity and respect."

Apple did not comment on the details of the worker's death,allegations regarding Foxconn's questioning of the worker, or thestatus of the allegedly missing phone prototype.

Various English-language sites have been repeating and translating Chinese media reports.

According to Chinese media,25-year-old Sun Danyong was responsible for shipping iPhone prototypesto Apple. Danyong reported the missing device to Foxconn afterrealizing that one of the 16 iPhones he received was no longer in hispossession.

Foxconn is Apple'slongtime manufacturing partner in China. Apple has used the company tomanufacture all of its iPods and, more recently, all of the iPhonemodels.

Foxconn did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

其实苹果这些公司对中国的供应商也是很矛盾的，一方面要顾及企业的社会责任，要对供应商进行监督，另一方面又不敢真的“停单”，否则谁给他生产呢还
