In three subject rankings, the University was placed in the top 50 inthe world: Arts & Humanities 42nd; Life Sciences & Biomedicine40th; and Social Sciences 37th. It was also placed 55th in Engineering& IT, and 83rd in Natural Sciences.
Furthermore, in the important rankings assigned by academic peers andemployers, the University was ranked 38th and 40th respectively.
“While we recognise that these rankings do fluctuate year to year, nonetheless it is an incredible achievement, particularly given thatNew Zealand invests less per student or per staff member in itsuniversities than any other western country,” said Professor McCutcheon.
“Clearly our education system delivers value for money and aninternationally-respected university that ranks amongst the very bestin the world.”
The University of Auckland was the only New Zealand university to beplaced in the top 100 in the Times Higher Education - QS WorldUniversity Rankings.
