RT, I am still on work permit. I am confused by the word 'NZ residence' here. I am really a residence in NZ....

of course you can have a pie account, just a type of investment entity here and the maximum tax rate from the pie income is 30%. pie entity does benefit the tax payers who pay the higher tax rate (over 30%) generated from investment income. also the pie income is not required to show on tax return if invested on individual structure.
