Manukau Symphony Orchestra - Yellow River

Manukau Symphony Orchestra & Music Association Auckland, with support from the People's Republic of China Ministry of Culture are proud to present the New Zealand premiere of Xinghai Xian's Yellow River Cantata, conducted by Uwe Grodd. Xian's landmark Chinese Yellow River Cantata was the first to integrate Chinese folk melodies & poetry into a Western-style operatic cantata. This awe-inspiring dramatic work, with solo arias, duets, chorus and narration, is performed with Manukau's full Symphony strength. 2009 marks the 70th anniversary of the work's composition. For the first half of these concerts, Manukau Symphony Orchestra Music Director, Uwe Grodd, will team up with prize-winning pianist, Chenyin Li, to present Tchaikovsky's magnificent piano concerto. Chenyi Li, now resident in London, is the recipient of many international first prizes such as the European Beethoven Gold Medal. Her solo recital at the NZ International Piano Festival in 2007 was described by the Herald as '...by far, the most reqarding evening of the festival'.

so expensive, I think its a good event for the mid-ages....
