The NZ TT (Tourist Trophy Championship) will be held at New Zealand's newest race circuit. Hampton Downs. Located 45 Minutes from Auckland and Hamilton.This is the first time a New Zealand Motorcycle Road Race Championship has been at this circuit. This race meeting also doubles as the last (5th) round of the 2010 Castrol Power 1 New Zealand Road Race Championships.
A brief history. The New Zealand TT is the oldest trophy to be raced for in New Zealand Road Racing. The name TT came from the Isle of Man TT races which is still raced on public roads today.
The TT in New Zealand was originally raced on Waiheke Island starting back in the 1930's. Since then the TT have been raced all over New Zealand , places like Wanganui , Napier , Lyall Bay street circuits to Ruapuna , Manfeild and Pukekohe closed tracks. For the last few years all the TT's have been raced at Pukekohe.
This year the TT moves just down the road from Pukekohe to the brand new Hampton Downs Circuit.
The TT races are the last races of the day for each class and will be run on Sunday.
Practice/Qualifying and Races (all classes except 600SP and Superbikes which ar qualifying only)) are on Saturday from 9am
Cost of entry is $ 15.00 for Saturday. $ 20.00 for Saturday and Sunday! Chrildren 15 and under are free.
