If you have the rights to work in aussie, that is, you are a NZ citizen, they treat you the same as local.

I got some phone interviews a few years back.

Australia didn't go into recession last year, Many major OZ banks are looking to upgrade their banking systems. They are worth billions of dollars projects.
Most job candidates for important IT jobs have got multiple offers and higher salaries for in-demand workers

my collegue's friend had been made redundant one year ago, could not find any job in 6 months in Aussie, then he had to come back to NZ to work. He and his family were living in Aussie nearlly ten years, got house, kids everything, he is a IT guy too (indian)
