i have both gas heater (central gas supply), heat pump, as well as normal electric oil column heater at home. I did some quick search and most reviews seems to be quite positive about these panels (e.g. http://www.amazon.com/ECONO-HEAT ... EATER/dp/B0006393L8).
I did a search on consumer.org and couldn't find any specific test report for it. I might buy one and try it out in one of the room.作者: 117wik 时间: 2010-6-18 22:24:03
I think the panel heater does work and make your house a more comfy place to be in, but in terms of efficiency you might still be better off with a heat pump (if you are planning to leave it on 24x7).作者: 117wik 时间: 2010-6-18 23:00:19
Didn't realise how expensive these things are ($200nzd each for a 400w panel), i have changed my mind now and will not be buying them. Each of them work the same as a normal electric convection heater (u get close to 100% efficiency i.e. $1 or $1 worth of heat), saying that, you would potentially be better off buying a $100 oil column heater that can output 2000w of heat though (i.e. you need 5 of these panels which will cost you $1000 to buy to produce the same amount of heat).
Most people seems to buy these panel to leave it running 24x7, if you own your current place and are looking for a primary heat source that you can leave running all the time, get a heat pump, each $1 will give you about $4 worth of heat.作者: luopeter123 时间: 2010-6-25 16:37:29
