since your question is reasonable interesting i ended up googling for you. If i am not wrong i think when you buy a truck you usually just buy one with different size, power and configuration. Depends on what you want to use the truck for, you will buy the appropriate trailers for it. e.g. if you want to transport cars with your truck, you will need what they call a "auto-transport trailer". To ship stocks etc, you will probably need either a "close-coupled trailer", "B-train trailers" or a "Semi trailers".
BTW i am no expert in this area, all the info above are from my 5 minutes google search so pls do do your own research to confirm it's accuracy.
