yes and no. If you have a reasonable CV and have enough relevant experience (through projects or part time or whatever) there are usually still employers that are willing to give a fresh grad a chance. Obviously if you have a good result from school your CV will stand out more, but it's not the end of the world if you failed a paper or two.

I have more than 10 years IT experience in NZ and none of my jobs are obtained via relationship with others.
