Auckland Marathon is an iconic Auckland event and you don't need previous experience to take part. Auckland Marathon and us Sport Auckland are looking for volunteers to help make this event a successful one. Once you have assisted with 5 or more events like this in2019 with us Sport Auckland's ActivAsian, you will get a volunteer certificate.


As a volunteer you will not only gain local volunteer experience, but also have lots of fun and make new friends! It's a rewarding experience with great people involved. Highly recommend it :)


Volunteer Arrangement

Event name: ASB Auckland Marathon

Address: Victoria Park (the exact assembly point is to be confirmed. You will receive and email as the event day comes closer)

Date: Sunday 20 October Race Day

Time: as shown in the shifts below.



Registration Process (3 steps)

Step 1 if you haven't registered Sport Auckland’s ActivAsian volunteering programme yetplease register here first https://forms.gle/Y31taH2ALM7TwfTr9


Step 2 Register on Auckland Marathon website and fill in your information via this link https://im.rosterfy.co/register?e=11967

Please read the following instructions carefully.


When you fill in “Event Application” section, please select your role

Race Day - Finish Line Info Sunday 20 October 7:00 AM - 1:00 PM - we need 5 volunteers;
or“Race Day - Finish Line Medals Sunday 20 October 7:00 am – 1: 00 pm” – we need 5 volunteers;
or“Race Day - Finish Line Aid Station & Event Pack Down Sunday 20 October 11:00 am – 3:00 pm” – we need 9 volunteers

When you fill in “Additional Info”section, please type in "Sport Auckland's ActivAsian" as the screenshot below.



Step 3 Send us an email to [email protected] with your Full Name + phone number + role so we could double check with Auckland Marathon three weeks prior to the event if you have submitted your information successfully.



Top 3 to dos before arriving to your shift:

Confirm your shift: You will receive an email prompt three weeks out from the event (or if you registered after this time, within 24hours of confirmation) asking you to re-confirm your shift selection. By doing this, it lets us know you still want to be involved, and that you have received all the information we have been sending through.


Prepare yourself: Plan your route - many of the local Auckland roads will be affected by road closures, so make sure you are aware of the best access route and available parking. Auckland weather can be very changeable, and we want to make sure you have prepared for all weather outcomes. Make sure you have packed wet and dry weather gear, so you are ready for whatever Auckland throws our way on race day.


Read the volunteers handbook: You will receive a link to this closer to event day.This handbook will contain all the latest event specific information, fresh from marathon HQ.
