New Zealand has come up with a world first in the fight against the spread of animal diseases such as foot and mouth and mad cow disease.
Massey University's Institute of Veterinary Animal and Biomedical Science has developed software that tracks an animal from birth to death, to pinpoint the source of disease outbreaks. Professor Hugh Blair says the software includes movements between farms and to meat processing plants
He says the Swiss government is using the software and it will be marketed to other countries.
