Some info on council's website (http://www.aucklandcouncil.govt. ... Pages/flatbush.aspx):
Ormiston town centre
The planned 19 hectare town centre will be the heart and soul of Flat Bush. Closely integrated with Barry Curtis Park, it will be much more than a shopping centre and will include opportunities to live, work and play.
Auckland Council owns 90 per cent of the town centre land and will work closely with Auckland Council Property Limited (ACPL), a council controlled organisation, to deliver a vibrant town centre. ACPL and Todd Property Group have entered into a development agreement for the town centre which will ensure that the town centre is developed on a commercially successful basis in accordance with the best international urban design standards.
It’s expected that construction of the town centre will begin in 2014.
Once complete the town centre will include retail, cafes, restaurants, commercial office space, medical facilities, apartments, townhouses, open spaces for recreation as well as a proposed aquatic centre. The vision is that the town will be based around traditional mainstreet concepts, be compact and pedestrian friendly and have strong ties to the environment.
The land, currently owned by Auckland Council, will be sold to Todd Property on a staged basis with the first land transfer anticipated in August 2013. The project, with an estimated construction value of half a billion dollars, is expected to be completed between 2019–2022.
Todd Property’s current projects include the development of the 110ha residential suburb, Stonefields, and the development of the 160ha Long Bay community on Auckland’s North Shore.
The new town centre will be found on Ormiston Road just to the east of the gateway Ormiston Bridge near Chapel Road. |
