Sounds like lz is working for a relatively large organisation. In this kind of org, they normally have standard employment agreement so study leave and study related reimbursement will not be included as it is too detailed and too specified for different department. You can ask the manager to mention it in the contract but I doubt it will be changed. Most of study policy can be manager’s discretionary decision anyway.
You might have sth like 12 months objectives after you get into the org. You can add those leave and payment application into your objectives and have manager’s approval so it is formal for you.
Check what union offers before you join in. If you are under ‘Individual’ instead of ‘Collective’ agreement, the union might not be much helpful. If by joining the union, you are entitled to the auto/merit steps and annual salary increases, then why not? |
