For most corporate environment, emails and browsing activities are routed through some sort of gateway (mail relay and proxy server). Most of the commonly used mail and web browsing protocols are in clear text (not encrypted) which mean if people want to, they can see everything word-by-word quite easily. Obviously there are privacy law etc which make such snooping illegal, there's nothing stopping employer from having software that will automatically analyze user behavior and send alert to your manager accordingly though (i.e. general and not targeted monitoring is generally allowed inside a corporate).
Best is to get a copy of company acceptable user policy and understand what you are/aren't allowed to do inside a company's network. HTH. |
