I have imported one myself. Your final cost will be:
(Auction price + agent fee + Shipping (less than NZD$1500) ) x 1.125 (before 1/10 or 1.15 after) + MAF (and possible decontaminating charge) + Custom entry + towing charge + On road cost (approx. NZD $500 incl. 6mths rego)
You may find the final price not much cheaper (ususally 1-2k cheaper than average market price) but remember car dealers hardly import anything above grade 4. You spend a couple of K less but get a higher grade vehicle! Grade 4/4.5 is definitely different from grade 3 or 3.5. In my opinion, it's worth the hassel. Actually I am planning to buy another one shortly.
I am thinking about setting up a car import club so more people pool together to import vehicles, the more discount we may get from auction agents. Group buying ? or Tuan gou? |
