two reasons that I don't think the property market is going down
1.The demand for house will absolutely increase. Not only contributed by local residents, but also by oversea buyer, as traditional immigration countries such as Canada and Australia are currently rising requirements for migrants. NZ is still in a position of continually attracting more immigration especially for the ones who have financial abilities
2.The government is surely supporting the property market, OCR is lower and stable. Banks are not risking themselves. It’s the reserve bank of New Zealand who sets the OCR, Banks are lending out money in a low interest, but it doesn’t mean that banks are lending money out to people without checking their ability to pay back the loans. Banks are valuating those properties which are sold much above CV, they know what they are doing. |
