What is required? - ResidenceYou need to meet a number of requirements to have your residence application approved under the Family Category (Partnership Policy).
You must be living together (and have been for a minimum of 12 months) in a genuine and stable relationship. You must also:
With your application you must supply:
- evidence that your partnership is genuine and stable
- evidence of your sponsorship by attaching to your application
a properly completed, signed and witnessed Sponsorship Form for Residence in New Zealand (NZIS 1024) PDF.
Your sponsor will have to supply:
- evidence of their immigration status
- (if aged 17 or over) police certificates from any country (except for New Zealand) in which they have lived 12 months or more in the last 7 years before the application is made.
And, if you were eligible as a partner in an earlier application, you must meet an English Language requirement
If you were eligible to be included as a partner of a principal applicant in an earlier successful application under the General Skills, Residence from Work, Skilled Migrant, Business Immigration or Business Investor Categories, but were not at the time included in the application, you will have to meet the requirements of the English Language policy applying at the time you make your application under Partnership policy.
Take a short cut to find out…
Use our quick check and our examples to find out if you are likely to be approved residence.
If your application is approved, we’ll issue you with a residence visa and permit enabling you to live in New Zealand indefinitely.
If you’re unable to meet our requirements, we will not grant you residence.
Think you meet these requirements? You can apply under our Family (Partnership) Category. How do I go about it? |
