Mobile network operator 2degrees has slashed its price for mobile data and launched a bargain basement bulk text offering for prepay customers.
The mobile data offer allows customers to buy 50MB Data Packs for $6 a pop while the Text Pack allows customers to purchase 500 texts to any network for $10. Previously 2degrees charged 50c per megabyte for data and 9c per text.
2degrees chief marketing officer Larrie Moore said both of the offers were among the best value on the market and could be purchased by 2degrees pre-pay customers by texting the relevant plans code to 233.
The company was not offering any on-account plans at this stage, but Moore hinted that anybody looking for a new plan should “hold off” because 2degrees might begin offering some shortly.
The new data and text deals had been released in response to customer demand and further offers were in the works, he said. Wireless broadband was on the wish list of things customers were asking for in future, he said.
Last November, 2degrees announced it would launch a 3G network sometime in 2010. Moore refused to name a date for the launch of its 3G network but said the company would honour its promise of upgrading its network to 3G this year.
