Parents warned over baby formulas

TheNew Zealand Food Safety Authority is advising parents using two brandsof infant formula to gradually change to alternative products.

Ata news conference today the authority said formula products, Nutriciaand Karicare gold plus, and the Karicare follow on formula, contain asubstance they should not have.

The substance - fructo-oligosaccharides, (FOS) - is an additive that could affect infant bowel movements.

The authority said FOS had not been subject "to the required risk-based safety assessment" for infant formula in NZ.

Itsaid it was taking a cautionary approach, but could not order thewithdrawal of the formula from the market because there was no evidenceit was doing harm to health.

The formula has been approved for use in the European Union.

The authority said it was important that infant diets were not changed suddenly as this could cause digestive upsets.

It recommended phasing out the products by replacing one to two feeds a day over three to four days.

1。NZ HERALD的新的更准确的消息是说，是GOLD PLUS系列，这个系列，是今年1月后才上市的。。。所以， GOLD是没问题的， GOLD PLUS才有问题。。。。。

2。新添加的物质，是一种纤维，在植物的根，和香蕉里都有这物质。。。但是母乳里面没有。。。。(我想， 6个月后的BB都有吃香蕉了吧，所以觉得主要是6个月前，可能肠胃不是很消化， 6个月的BB没什么问题吧。。。个人意见。。)

3。看了HEINZ的奶粉，也有放纤维的，但是跟K的不是一种。。。而且新闻里也没说到HEINZ。。。。对营养学不了解，不知道为什么一种纤维可以，一种不可以。。。。知道的，请帮解释下。。。。
