来新西兰很多年了， 我的体会是，如果你有较广泛的社会交往，机会常常会光顾你。Face-to-face 常常比看到一封求职的cover letter 更有效果。

个人意见，仅供参考：

1. 想办法找熟人介绍入行，同学，朋友，亲戚，同事等等，在NZ这是最靠谱的法子；

2. 想办法 ”能人所不能“。你得有拿得出的手的东西才行。现在经济不是很好，有一两年行业经验的人都不好找工作。LS有人建议直接上CCIE是条路子。不过路子不只一条。要不就先眯着，等经济好起来再说。

总之，现在不是入行的好时候，心里要有准备，在NZ，时机是最重要的，毕竟市场小，机会少。

I guess if LZ has a choice, it will be a no brainer and everyone will always pick a role with more advancement potential. The reality is for most IT graduates that are starting out, a lot of them can't even get an interview.

Saying that, internet is the best place where freedom of speech is exercised, so pls don't take our comments too seriously either. At the end of the day we have nothing against you personally, and we are all just giving our 2cents and it's still up to LZ to determine what advise is right for him, and it's still up to him to find his own path.... :)

I am really curious, do u still work in IT now? The company that you worked for before that look after fortune 500 companies, it wasn't HP/EDS was it?

发现有些人看不明白我的意思，只好再次强调一次：我不是觉得自己没前途了，所以阻止别人低姿态进入这个行业。正是因为我走过来了，但发现这条路不靠谱，才希望新人可以具备高资历，至少是比较完善的知识结构，直接就拿个比较有上升潜力的职位，而不是流水兵策略的helpdesk。

另外呢，建议不要拿个案和小概率事件去鼓励新人。你当时是提了个比较高的职位，至少也是总监级别吧，我才说这种职位不会留给红旗下长大的的中国人。你现在又举个中层经理的例子。没什么意思吧。打击人的例子我实在是不想举。。。

我之前也反复说了，我们在这里争论自己的观点对LZ一点帮助都没有。

既然都是这个行业里的人，对自己的前景报有美好的期望那是好事。

我想对LZ说的已经都说了，祝LZ好运吧。

Not really.The technical product manager for bloody SharePoint is Chinese.I am not quite sure why you guys are really pessimistic about life here.It is much better than China.No matter how good you are , if you do not have connections in China ,there is not fxxking Chance of getting promotion.At least here , if you work harder , your work will be paid off eventually.

Your own experience is yours not everybody else.If you can not get promoted , it does not mean we can't.Simply because  we are confident,optimistic and we work hard and enjoy what we are doing.We have people working as software architect , network architect and project manager in this forum.So I could not see why everybody esle can not achieve that.

这年头找工作好难，寄了n多简历了，只有一封回的，说已经面试了很多人，找到了一个合适的了。

这个对于一个毕业生来说也就是听听罢了。人毕竟还是要脚踏实地，从低做起。而且搞技术，不一定都是support。如果你到了一个IT Service Company 会有developer 或者network manager的。
还有就是有的人适合搞技术，有的人不适合。不觉得到了35岁做个部门”总工程师“有什么不好。哪要看你在什么公司做，你能做到微软的 Operating system (e.g Windows 8,9,10)部门”总工程师“ 我觉得还是很有“钱”途，实在不行office 或者Visualstudio也行。

我看了LZ后面的回复，挺明显的，人家挺有自己的想法和理想的。不过毕竟没入行，还不明白整个技术支持链上的每个环节，没体会到上面给个职位对前途的茫然。新人嘛，挺正常的，能理解。

我们两个的观点不太一样也挺正常的，因为我们的经历肯定不同，对自己目前的状态以及将来的打算也不一样。至于你说的一些类似于系统管理员的市场需求更大、有的CCNP甚至不具备CCNA应有的知识，我也不想要反驳。因为市场需求大和LZ是否就能被录用没有必然联系，而且我也可以说有的CCNP的综合实力甚至超越CCIE。我们两个人之间的探讨其实对LZ一点帮助都没有。

因为我们给LZ指的未来完全超过了LZ目前可以实现的地步。

有些人可能觉得我之前说的都是信口开河，什么考VCP啊，甚至什么回国考CCIE都说出来了。我觉得有必要作个说明。我的本意并不是“考”，而是“学习”。一个CCIE实际水平如何我不敢担保，但至少一定是具备相当完善的知识体系的。至于为什么是VCP和CCIE，这只是我对这里市场的一个预计。大家能理解就理解，不理解也就算了。

既然问到我的个人经历，那确实也有比较简单介绍一下，供LZ做个参考。

我找第一份工作的时候已经是MCSE + MCDBA + CCNA。当时CCNA挺值钱的，因为市面上看不到，而且都吹是什么国际认证，能不值钱嘛。后来进了全球实力最强的IT外包服务公司，支持全球500强里前50名的客户项目。我一个人每天支持的用户数量超过300，光上海需要支持的办公室面积就超过6千平米。这份工作给了我一个非常高的起点，也为我将来的发展铺下了意想不到的人脉关系。要说职位的话，那算是这里的 level2 吧。

一年之后我就辞职了。为什么？？三个字，“没前途”。老板几次说要留我，我也不转弯，“我也不想走，可是没前途啊“。后来这个老板为我在新西兰的第一份工作做了reference。之后的实事是，team里的其他人没有一个升上去的，包括工作了四五年的，全都跳槽去了其它公司，干着同样的工种，就是收入高了那么一点点。

后来由于之前的人脉关系，我被介绍去接手部门重组的IT项目，算是个小leader吧。不过这里要提醒LZ一点，一直到今天为止，我能比别人走的远，并不是我技术比别人强，或者别的什么原因，我总结下来就是个人脉和机遇，仅此而已。

所以 LZ 要是有信心从help desk做起，我也拦不住。但你要我从头来过，我都不敢去重复这第一步。因为时代不同了，再也不是什么几个技术精英满办公室跑。更多的是转换成一个注重流程和管理的行业，类似于流水线生产。这也是为什么我之前说你到了系统管理员就歇菜了。

有空你可以留意一下，这里的系统管理员都多少岁数了，你要是觉得35岁做个部门”总工程师“也不错的话，那花时间苦熬也未尝不是一条出路。只不过升职这个东西还存在一个概率的问题，而且技术支持啊也逃脱不了办公室政治，你不能站错队伍。

另外LZ可以留意一下，现在的软件做的越来越强，人机界面越来越完善，有没有可能说公司有天神经短路，出低价找两个毕业生把35岁的总工给替代了。

其实我自己也觉得，我给你描述的这些都离你太遥远，你甚至都不能理解。

我其实并不了解你，所以我不能说”你往售前靠吧。看看大公司总裁都是什么部门出生。“也许售后支持或者和最终用户打交道反而更适合你。

我也只能装B的说，一切皆是因果，都得看造化。

他薪水那么高啊， 记得当时就 $22-$25/hour.......

请问，假设我埋头回国加一个补习班。１年之后拿到CCIE，回头再到NZ。即使某个公司要申请Cisco的金牌代理，公司需要多少多少个CCIE，他们敢要我这样一点经验都没有，光有一个证书的人吗？

DO NOT become a paper certify. If you are serious about getting a job in IT, be the one that know something about it. I have interviewed candidates that are CCNP certified before that didn't even know some of the most basic thing that a CCNA should know. certification is absolutely useless if you don't know what you are doing and talking about at all.

Everyone have to start somewhere, i am not sure what you are basing your statement on (that starting from helpdesk won't get anywhere). May be you should back some of your statement here with your experience and how you got to where you are now? It will probably give LZ a better idea and confidence that you are stating what you said based on fact.

Also you seem to keep bashing MCSE and think that CCNA is the way to go in terms of finding job in NZ, again, is this based on experience or just your personal opinion? Personally based on my own experience, there are more demand for sys admin rather than network admin on the market. I do have to admit that Cisco support is the better way to go, but the reality is not that many companies actually do need someone with Cisco experience though. (i.e. i have seen too many that have done only CCNA and nothing else and couldn't get a job anywhere).

I started off as an MCSE myself and i think i am doing ok in the NZ IT industry though.

我曾经在intergen工作过，bachelor不是一个硬条件。你工作过一段时间了，应该比毕业生更有优势。我当时就是申请他们graduate program，当时本科还有９个月毕业就要我了而且我只是学生工签。可以去试试，工作环境超级好。

You can talk to some agents as well.But paying for agent is not going to help ,most good company will not use those agents to find staff simply because it will end up cost them too much.They'd rather use some good agents to find some quality candidate.

Just search from seek and make a few phone call to some agents.Have a few words with them then you can email your cv and cover letter to them.When opportunity arises , they will contact you.
Plus :Graduate program does not mean it will hire bachelor or master.It simply an entry level job.Most graduate program is fixed term contract so that you can not easily leave your job for a certain period (under paid for a year or two).But in return you will receive a lot of training  and much less responsibilities(it does not mean you will do less work , simply mean there is always someone you can ask for help. AKA. Your mentor)
