Can I go online to check the status of my lost or mishandled baggage?
Singapore Airlines sincerely apologizes if we have mishandled your baggage and understand that this is an inconvenience. Please be assured that we will do everything possible to assist you through this experience. You may also check your baggage search status here.
What is the allowance for checked baggage?
Weight allowances for checked baggage are as follows:
First Class: 40 kg (88 lb)
Business Class: 30 kg (66 lb)
Economy Class: 20 kg (44 lb)
Occupational safety rules require that the checked baggage weight for passengers travelling to/from Australia, Brunei, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom does not exceed 32 kg (70 lb) per piece. Any bags weighing more than 32 kg (70 lb) must be broken down such that each piece weighs less than 32 kg (70 lb).
Passengers are required to re-pack their baggage if the baggage weight exceeds the above-stipulated limitation per piece. It should be noted that this 'physical' baggage weight limitation is an issue relating to Occupational Health Safety and is not related to baggage allowance and charges, which is a separate subject matter. Passengers with excess baggage beyond their checked baggage allowance will be charged excess baggage". Solitaire PPS and PPS members are entitled to double the free baggage allowance for the respective class of travel. KrisFlyer Gold members are entitled to an additional 20 kg (44 lb) of free baggage for the respective class of travel.
Infants are entitled to 10 kg (22 lb) of checked baggage. In addition, a fully collapsible stroller or pushchair, carrycot, and infant food may be checked without charge.
US and Canadian Baggage Allowances
Please note that the piece system is applicable on flights to/from the USA and Canada (IATA Area One). The baggage allowances are listed below.
First / Business Class
Two pieces of baggage may be checked.
The sum of the greatest outside linear dimensions of each bag cannot exceed 158 cm (62 in).
The weight of each piece is limited to 23 kg (50 lb).**
Economy Class
Two pieces of baggage may be checked.
The sum of the greatest outside linear dimensions of the two pieces measured together does not exceed 273 cm (107 in), provided that the outside linear dimensions of each bag do not exceed 158 cm (62 in).
The weight of each piece is limited to 23 kg (50 lb). **
PPS and KrisFlyer Gold members are allowed one extra bag.
Note:
Customers travelling to/from Area One on the same ticket will have these baggage allowances applied at all points in the itinerary.
** Effective 01 April 2008
Infants are entitled to one piece of checked baggage. In addition, a fully collapsible stroller or pushchair, carrycot, and infant food items may be checked-in without charge.
