MYNZ 2010

During Youth Week this year, Shakti
isorganising a day of workshops for young migrants and refugees to get together,share their experiences and talk about issues that affect them in an open andcomfortable environment.
We are looking for migrants and refugees age 15-21 of Asian,Middle Eastern and African descent to be be part ofthis forum that has been designed to help build understanding aboutcross-cultural issues. We want to recognise and address the specific issuesfaced by young migrants and refugees in Aotearoa/New Zealand, while providing aspace where they can feel comfortable talking about the challenges of living inNew Zealand.
There will be workshops ontopics such as cultural ‘juggling’, racism and bullying, family,love and safety and gender issues as well as presentations by groups whoprovide support services for young migrants and refugees.

This is an event organised by youth for youth to support eachother and strategise to build a safer world for ourselves.
