有两个校区老师和学生会一同发起的捐款活动!
内容如下:

DONATION FOR EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS IN CHINA




Dear colleagues and fellow students,

As you maybe aware, China has suffered it’s worst earthquake in over 30 years. On 12th May 2008,
at approximately 2.30pm (Beijing time), China’s south-western province of Sichuan was struck by a
catastrophic earthquake measuring 8 on the Richter scale. The earthquake, and the following smaller
“aftershocks”, have lead to significant loss of life, as well as caused substantial damage to property
and infrastructure. As of 20th May, approximately 34,000 people have been reported dead, with this
number expected to rise, as tens of thousands are still missing.

The victims of this earthquake are in urgent need of assistance. Authorities are doing everything
possible to alleviate the situation, but with a disaster of this scale (the earthquake has been estimated
to cost US $20 billion - Reuters) victims are in need of all the help they can get.

So in response to this situation, Palmerston North Chinese Scholars and Students Association (PN)
and
Massey University Chinese Students’ Association (Albany) are working together to organise a
Massey-wide fundraising event on Wednesday (星期三), 21 May, to help collect funds on behalf
of the earthquake victims. Following events are based on Albany campus:

I was appalled by the devastation and loss of life caused by the earthquake that struck China on 12 May 2008. The earthquake, magnitude 7.9 Mw, equals to 600 million tons of TNT, with its epicenter in Wenchuan County, Sichuan province of
China.

Official figures (as of 15 May) state that about 20,000 (including 19,509 in Sichuan province) are confirmed dead and 102,100 injured. Tens of thousands are missing, many of them trapped, buried, and eight provinces were affected.

We are all brothers and sisters in the one same family of human earthlings. My thoughts and heart are with all the victims and their families and friends. I hope all friends and loved ones of Massey University students and staff are safe and well....

I would like to express my deep sorrow and sadness towards the victims of this terrible tragedy.

May those that have passed beyond,
Find their way to heaven with ease.

May those that still suffer,
Find hope and courage they need to survive.

May those who have been left behind,
Find healing and comfort for mind and body.


May those who have gone to give aid and assistance
Find the strength they need to rescue victims.

The people who have suffered this disaster are our brothers and sisters in humanity. We can show our love and compassion for their suffering is to render them assistance to help them to stand on their own feet once again.
