What is the compensation grant for?
We have received a number of queries about the $500 we have offered to students to compensate them for the impaired experience due to the disruptions caused by the earthquake. This compensation grant is not a refund of tuition fees or student services levy. It is a payment to reflect the degradation in the facilities arising from damage to buildings caused by the earthquake.

How much will I receive?
The grant will be $250 for students enrolled part-time (up to and including 0.5FTE) and $500 for students who are carrying course loads of over 0.5 FTE.

Who will receive the grant?
The grant will be available to New Zealand and full-fee paying international students enrolled at the University of Canterbury after 1 May. The grant will also be paid to students who have taken up the exchanges to the University of Adelaide and the other New Zealand universities.

When will I receive the grant?
As far as practical arrangements are concerned, the grant will be paid after 1 May 2011 to a New Zealand bank account nominated by the student or Studylink, at the discretion of the student. Following inquiries from some students, we are happy to provide a further option, which is to donate the $500 to the UC Foundation. An online form will be provided shortly.

I am an international student, what will I receive?
In addition to the above, and in recognition of the special challenges faced by full-fee paying international students who do not have the same support networks as New Zealand based students, we will provide a further International student “grant in aid” of $500. This grant will be provided to international students at the University of Canterbury who:

Had accepted their offer of place by 22 February 2011
Had paid their tuition and other fees by 22 February or within a period of time that allowed them to complete enrollment
Have completed other immigration and health requirements; and
Are still enrolled as of 1 May 2011.
This grant in aid offers respite from financial hardships that are unique to full-fee paying students far from their homes and home countries and who, because of the disruption caused by the earthquake, will have incurred significant additional expenses not normally anticipated to be a part of the academic year’s costs. This grant will also be paid after 1 May 2011. Further details and an online form will be provided shortly.

今年的啊, 第一学期停车的也给退钱, 也说不会在五月之前给,因为资金的问题, 我觉得地震了,坎大要花钱的地方也很多,估计要周转吧~~~

因为enrol过的退钱和withdraw的期限延迟到4月30号，所以5月1号之后还enrol的就给钱呗~

请看后面那句，由于地震影响跑去其他学校借教室上课的也给。
说明是因为换上课地点或enroll延期而给的补偿。

林肯压根没事，基本正常注册，就晚了2周，校园也ok，不用更换上课地点。
不给补偿在逻辑上是很合理的。这不是说砍大好，林肯差的问题。

坎大都要在帐篷里上课, 时间都是早上8点到晚上8点不一定的,周一到周六啊~~还有很多人赶场一样的, 中间就10分钟休息还要开车跑,不一定能不能找到车位~~
再说,课间我们连图书馆的空位子都不一定能不能排上队, 厕所还要去外面的流动厕所, 给点补偿也是情理之中了啊~~
林肯至少不用为停车的问题发愁啊, 其他的就更没有什么问题了啊~~
