An earthquake which shook Auckland tonight measured 2.9 and was at a depth of 9km.
The quake was recorded at 9.09pm, 10km east of Auckland and has prompted dozens of reports into ONE News.
More than 1000 people posted on the GeoNet website they had felt the report within a few minutes of it being recorded.
