This is great, we can't and don't wont to be producing the goods, but our south island designers and developers need to travel there to oversee production. We are such snobs about made in china but some many folk aren't willing to do production based work. Get real. At this stage china does not have the creativity, one day they will. We need to support high level thinking and creativity and get goods made off shore, with returns coming back to NZ and make hay while the sun shines. sometimes waiting over 10 days for a visa from Wellington holds up production, Jack and Bruce - we need to look to a strong Education system so our people are well educated and take on great creative, thinking, problem solving roles. It's our IQ that can bring about great things for economy, not factories.

Absolute rubbish. The dismal economy is largely the result of appalling corporate corruption in the US. And vast overspending in the Western democracies.
New Zealand had extremely low unemployment right up until 2008, when the Wall Street crash hit all round the world.
Nothing to do with China.

I agree with Sam #1 . Also the inability to compete with cheap goods from China has seen our businesses , jobs and profits go off shore . The results of this are showing in our dismal economy and huge beneficiary numbers .

How misguided. We build closer ties with a corrupt communist dictatorship and somehow it is good for the Christchurch earthquake recovery...yeah right. Why not closer ties with Japan? At least they are a democracy and have a grown-up view of diplomacy.作者: Adagio 时间: 2011-12-4 23:06:11
