To my suprises, in recent decades the amount of attention the general cultuer gives to the historical Jesus has been increasing.
在这句话里，有两个动词 gives and has been 在一个句子里。按照语法的角度，一个句子里只能有一个动词，但是在这个句子中同时出现两个动词，但句子又没有错误，我就糊涂了。请那位高人给指点一下。

gives改成given 应该是这样了

这里有一个从句所以就可以用两个动词。个人感觉。
