IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON PROOF OF FUNDS/BANK STATEMENTS
If you are planning on applying for a new student visa via UC at International Enrolment in Person on 15 - 17 February 2012 please note the following information in respect of what you will be required to supply for your proof of living expenses.
Immigration NZ will require the University of Canterbury to obtain detailed information from you as set out below.
Please note: If you are unable to satisfy these requirements you will be required to lodge a manual visa application direct with Immigration NZ which will delay your enrolment process.
Bank Transaction Statements
Ensure the following:
o Date of the bank statement is after Fees have been paid (we will accept same day as enrolment)
o Student must provide latest 3 months of transaction statements from all accounts
o Any large deposits (over $1000) must be explained and evidence has been provided for that explanation
NB: letters from friends claiming they have returned borrowed money is NOT evidence
o Sufficient funds in bank account to cover the period they wish the visa for - ie $1000 per month or $10,000 for a year (courses over 36 months)
o
Outward Travel
o Provide an Outward Ticket or provide evidence of extra funds to cover outward ticket (eg $10,000 + $2,000).
Financial Undertaking/Sponsorship
Financial Undertaking
o Only acceptable if student had a financial undertaking from that person prior to coming to New Zealand.
Sponsorship
o Provide evidence of NZPR or Citizenship or evidence of incorporated society or charitable trust.
o Sponsor must be a friend or relative of the student - evidence of relationship must be provided.
o Sufficient funds for the maintenance and/or accommodation and/or outward travel for the sponsored person (unless they are providing their own).
