If you really need convincing...I once had a dream that a herd of llamas rescued me from a band of angry unicorns. They then told me, in a calming Morgan Freeman voice, that I must use my powers for good. Finally, today is that day.

Come bring a picnic along and visit New Zealand's largest herd of llamas, hand feed the youngsters, and take the farm tour. All while enjoying the tranquillity of rural New Zealand that's only 20 minutes from Central Christchurch.

Llamas are classified as a rare breed throughout the world. They are a distant cousin to the alpaca, both having originated from South America. Llamas are safe, inquisitive and endearing animals, so you can get the whole family together and enjoy spending your day with them.

They have seating in all areas, so you can chose to sit away from llamas but with great views of the herd, in the large arena with a small group of trained llamas, or out in the paddocks with their large herd of over 70 mums and babies.

They have a visitor's centre as well, with a packed gift shop with Eftpos, toilets, and full disabled access.

If you've ever met a llama, you know how adorable and strangely addicting they are to be around. If this is your first time, you - and also your kids - are in for a treat, all thanks to the Watford Grange Llama Park.
