NCEA 是新西兰最常见的高中考试制度，也是新西兰比较独有的



NCEA分为level 1, level 2, level 3。一般是新西兰11，12，13年级分别考（也就是form 5 form 6 form 7)。另外还有ncea level 4, 也就是scholarship，属于额外的自愿考试


NCEA不完全按科目分，也就是说不是一个数学考试，而是好几个不同的数学paper, 比如统计是一个，几何是一个，微积分是一个，等等。每个分开考试，分开算分。至于一个学校要考哪几个组成自己的数学科目，完全取决于老师和学校。总之如果我没记错，前几年的最新的制度是说年底的external 不能超过3个，还是3个小时。。。反正这样等于internal考试会更多一些。

EXTERNAL INTERNALncea的另一特点就是external和internal两种不同的考试。

external是指年底全国统一的考试，统一的卷纸，统一由教育局的老师批判。但是和传统考试一样，这个完完全全是笔试。
internal是指在学校教室内，由学校的老师按照教育局的规定去出题，学校老师自己判分。这个internal的好处是适合那些笔试考不了的技能，比如科学的实验，research skills，做一个手工，等等。但是最大的争议在于，这部分的水分非常大。因为老师给的分数就是最终分数。而虽然教育局会抽查并且给出教育局心目的分数，但是是不能取代老师给出的分数的。因此有些学校会通过这个提高自己学校的整体分数。而也有一些学校打擦边球，比如说，虽然规定是学生只能交一次final assessment，但是老师可以通过让学生交‘草稿’的方法来给学生意见，回去改进，再交。
这里需要提的一个dilemma。理论上来说internal是个不错的方法，的确，对于比如演讲等级能他是一个很不错的考试制度。按照之前的bursary考试，只能在年底去写，我今年的演讲时如何完成的。或者我今年的实验是如何完成的。交的是个理论报告而非实际动手。可是呢，对于很多比如科学试验的internal，最终老师批的还是哪个报告，而并非挨个看你的titration是否做的标准。所以说白了，瞎写一些成绩，最终还是可以蒙骗过关的。

internal另外的一个坏处是非常浪费时间，尤其是对于这种想通过internal提高成绩的学校。按照教育局的比配，每个paper都有一个限定的Credit 数（这个稍后解释），而且给出的time allocation是大约一个credit应该是10个小时左右的学习时间（课内和课外的）。一般来说一个subject大约是24个总credit，也就是240-250小时的学习。internal需要学生大量的课内时间，也就是说相对来说internal多的学校在external上给予学生的课内时间就少很多，需要自己学习的也就更多。

NCEA判分标准
NCEA的判分标准如下：
每个paper有规定的Credit数目，一般是4-5个credit，但是最少的是2个credit最多好像是6个（我遇到最多的是六个）。因为Credit数量是反应这个paper的学习时间比例的。NCEA的评分标准为NA (not achieved不及格), A (achieved 及格) M (merit良) E (excellence 优）。也就是说在NCEA中，E是最好的，A是及格。
无论一个paper是拿到什么评分(AME)，credit数目是一样的。如果不及格那当然是拿不到Credit
也就是说，比如91027， level 1的数学的algebra, 是4 credit的paper. 只要过了，就等于拿到了4credits. 无论你是excellent哈市merit还是achieved, 都是4 credits.

NCEA CERTIFICATE
NCEA本身也有自己的certificate，level 1, level 2, level 3. 对于我们华人来说，拿到这个‘certificate'毫无压力，但是毕竟是国家认证的，所以还是小小解释一下
NCEA level 1 certificate要求80credits at level 1 or above, 其中包括10 numeracy and 10 literacy credits (也就是所谓数学要10分，英语要10分，这也是为什么新西兰学校year 11必须学英语和数学）
NCEA level 2 certificate 要求80 credits, 其中 60个是level 2 or above , 而且同样包括 level 1 的10 numeracy 10 literacy
NCEA level 3 certificate 要求 80 credits, 其中60 level 3 or above, including level 1 numberay and literacy (2014新要求）
分数是累积算的，也就是说比如year 11考的credits, 在level 2还可以算在内。其实基本上这个规定就是说，只要你year 11拿到了level 1的10 numeracy 10 literacy credits, 后面两年每年拿到60 credits就够了。


通常学校是学5 subjects, 每个24credit, 一共应该是120credit, 第一年拿到80，后面两年拿到60个真的是。。傻子都应该能拿到。。。。所以这个真的完全完全完全不是什么难处。

听说我毕业后第二年开始实行根据分数多少个E, M, A在Certifcate上也会标明。不知道现在还是否在这样

UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE
新西兰的最低标准university entrance上大学的要求水准是，42 credits at level 3 其中最少有两个subject拿到14分，而最后的14分可以一个或者两个subject加一起的。另外，需要level 2 literacy credits, 4 writing, 4 reading. 最后需要level 1 numeracy credit 14分。(因为大学最低要求是8 level 2 literacy credits, 所以新西兰高中form 6英语也是必修课）

这是最低标准的university entrance

那么高一些标准的大学科目需要的不只是42 credits了。有些科目需要80 credits at level 3, 有些需要指定的科目，有些需要80 credits level 3 ranked. 这个Ranked又是什么概念呢？之前曾经说过，无论是AME，Credit数目是不变的。但是如何区分80个credit都是excellent和80 credit都是achieved的学生呢? 这就需要ranking。比较常用的算法是把每一个credit, A的x2, M的x3, E的x4, NA的x0，来得到一个不超过320分的分数。因为如果80credit都是E， 那么最高的是80x4=320分。而如果都是A那么是80x2=160分。所以比如说，一个学生有80credit, 其中10个E, 30个M, 40A, 那么他的’ranking分数‘等于10x4+30x3+40x2=210. 而另一个学生80credit, 25E, 5M, 50A ranking分数215. 如果超过80 credit就取最高的80 credits.
另外需要说明的一点就是一个subject最多取24个credit. 所以这80 credit至少要是4个不同subject


UNIT STANDARD VS ACHIEVEMENT STANDARD

NCEA的paper官方叫做standard。有两种，一个是unit standard US一个是achievement standard AS.
US是competency based，而分数只有及格和不及格。所以分数不会超过achieved.
AS是可以最高拿到Excellence优的
但是两者的credits都算数。

当然US特别容易过，很多都不用考试的。比如我记得之前有english US只需要歇够reading log就能拿到分数了。
对于很多low band class或者ESOL班就会通过US来拿够credit。


上大学，应该学什么课？

大多学校的要求是year 10学了year 11才可以学，year 11学了year 12才可以 etc etc etc
所以最好是work backwards，从大学要求去选课。
那么因为一般学校year 9 year 10的必修课都已经包括英语数学科学等，所以选课就凭兴趣就好啦，无非就是画画设计音乐语言business等等。year 11一般也是一样的。偏向文科的可以考虑学Geography等。偏向理科不用太担心。只有year 12, year 13才需要慎重考虑。

一般来说，低年级的时候，数学就叫数学，而在year 13数学会分成两个不同的Subject 也就是微积分和统计calculus and statistics. 而科学低年级也是Science，到了year 12, 有些是year 11，会分成三个不同的也就是biology physics chemistry生物化学。

这里是ncea把科目分成table a and table b，也可以简单的理解为a=文科，b=理科

而下面是新西兰奥大的各个Bachelor的入学要求。我不确定其他大学。管怎么反正只限参考啦有些比较新的课程是没有rank score的。比如当年我上biomed的时候，好像只有两三年的历史，因此当年没有规定280分，当年真的是排名。好像说600报名能进两百左右？

NCEA 的答题技巧和marking
NCEA 从2013年开始实行的Grade score marking，这个和往常不完全一样。这个我们只是简单学过，但是我之前考法不完全一样，所以细节可能无法解释太清楚。

关于grade score marking，简单来说每一道题，是考官先去找是否有达到Excellence的标准，如果没有再去找关于merit，如果没有就找关于achieved （什么是excellence标准稍后再说）

同时呢（我觉得这是应广大考生要求）又再一步将E, M, A分成不同等级，比如说

M5的说明是Merit偏低，M6是merit偏高。不过个人是觉得这个可以当作一个self evaluation的标准，但是改变不了实际分数。
一套完善的教育系统，考试应该提供的不是光分数等级这么基本，而是应该是可以作为一个evaluation tool，让老师去分析自己的teaching哪里需要改善，同时也让学生可以分析自己的learning哪里不够完整。当然啦，理想世界和现实世界不太一样。我的俗见就是，理想世界里面，考试不是为了给学生压力，是为了提高学生的能力。最起码我们是这么学的！可是现实世界。。。。就不用多说了

再次强调，这是针对每一道题的评分。

之后呢，会把所有分数再加起来。比如第一道题，M5, 第二到A3, 第三道E7, 总分5+3+7=15.

接下来，考官会根据当年这个paper的所有考生成绩，去算出，E应该是什么分数range, M应该是什么，A应该是什么。比如这个paper说M的分数range 14-19分，那么这个15分的paper最终会拿到Merit为成绩。

当然每个paper的评分标准不一样，每一年也不会一样。

NZQA自己说，经过五年的研究他们觉得这种方式是最好的。

也许咋一看有一些不公平，因为好像考的不是一个Absolute grade绝对分数而是一个relative score。因为按照ncea说法他的paper事一个standard，也就是一个‘标准’标准是死的不是活的，你达到了这个标准你就等于过了。

我不知道这里面的用意何在，不过我想说一下我的看法。
1）ncea曾经是用的绝对分数标准的，也就是说那个时候只要你达到了考试的标准，你就得到相应的分数。就好像你答对98题你就是98分一样。那么因为ncea相对的achieved分数有点底，所以pass的人也就更多。所谓的‘上大学’的人也更多，导致我记得当年奥大最‘低级’的商科都最后不得不用Ranking作为入学标准了。
2) 其实无论你的绝对分数是什么，人生永远是一个人比人的状态。题简单了，人的分数搞了，那么门槛同样也会升高，最终效果还是一样的。难道不是吗
3) 我能看出ncea这种新的标准的好处，是他给了一个绝对分数（通过每道题的分数给）而最终成绩还是一个Rank score. 所以学生可以说，我每道题都答成了merit标准，我还是很棒的！但是同一年很多人都做到了，所以我的paper final score只是Achieved, 说明我和今年其他的学生比，我只是在这个level上。或者反着，我每道题都是merit，看来我答题应该更细腻一点，不过final score 是excellent，说明今年这个题的确出的比较难，所以我还是一个上等的学生。
4) 貌似这种只是用于external assessment。如果同时适用internal也许会均衡一下给分不均匀的现象吧。
5) 其实之前新西兰的bursary考试，也是用ranking的方式给出ABC的。。。。

NCEA PAST EXAMS和批判/答题技巧

这里是ncea所有的科目。他设计的subject会广于很多其他的考试，这也是基于ncea的独特性。

我学的多数为理科，所以我只能针对理科来提出评价。

一般来说（至少我们当年是这样的，老师也是这么教，但是这个不是绝对的）describe意思是描述，多数说明这个题最高能给到A的成绩。explain是解释，多数说明这道题最多给M的成绩。discuss是讨论，多数说明这道题最多给E的成绩。

所以通常，describe的题要求的就是，比如‘这种基因突变属于什么突变’，答案就是一个标准答案比如point mutation. 或者这是物理中‘磁场是婶么东西’ 或者一个最简单的算术题。
explain可能是，（物理）‘为什么磁铁会吸引铁钉子但是不会吸铅笔‘ （中文不太好，学名不会，将就看一下）

刚刚看了一下ncea的题，发现现在很多explain题也是最多可以拿到E的了。

ncea也有自己的答题技巧。仔细研究一下会发现每年的题型相差不会太大，最起码研究几年的题型会发现来来去去就这么几种题，不同的应用范围而已。而就因为这样，ncea的答题方式比较独特，也有一些必须回答的关键词。

下面举个例子(level 1 physics heat)

Now        the water jacket is filled with water and the thermette is heated by lighting a fire in the fire chamber.After a short time, convection currents are set up in the water jacket. Explain why convection currents occur in the water jacket


ACHIEVED:
Mentions that hot water rises.
AND
Cold / colder water sinks without any reference to density.

MERIT:
The water being heated gets warmer and it rises to the top, because it is less densE
AND
Cold / colder water, being denser, sinks to the bottom.

EXCELLENCE:
The water being heated gets warmer and it rises to the top, because it is less dense.
AND
Cold / colder water, being denser, sinks to the bottom.
AND
The idea that this occurs because the water is not being evenly heated / heated in a specific part of the thermette (e.g. bottom) by description of where heated. (Consistent mention of expanding particles negates as does more or less
dense particles.)


有的时候有些标准答案还会用粗体表明关键词。

不过和任何考试一样，多看看题，多做做，多看看标准答案，就能摸清楚套路。ncea官网一般会有两三年的past exam和assessment schedule。很多书，尤其是Really useful resources，当年老师推荐买的，也有很多很多past paper.

所以一般来说，多背一些这种套路题，多做一些，多了解一下标准答案，ncea也不是特别难考高分的。

我觉得数学是尤其容易判断题的一个考试，只要看看几年的考试，就会发现（虽然顺序不一定一样）几乎永远都有几道一样的题，比如

91028

Investigate relationships between tables, equations and graphs

永远会有一个看graph给出公式的题，永远会有根据公式画出图的题。会有根据数据plot and draw a graph.
还会有一个，不知道咋解释，但是就是比如2012年的题，某广告公司每送一份广告给多少钱，另一广告公司是给一个基础费然后每一分再多少钱，画完Graph（或者根据graph给出公式）描述一下这两个广告公司的确别 （一般来说就是比如多少多少报纸以下，A公司给的多，多少以上B给的多。然后再用数学分析一下, 两个都是linear，两个gradient区别，等等）
（我郑重声明，原题和原答案不是一样的，我只是简化一下）
而且貌似最后的’压轴题‘经常都和parabola有关（这个是叫抛物线吗）反正就是y=x^2一类的公式，
比如2012的题
Two other poles are 8 m apart.
Another rope is hanging between them.
The rope is attached to each of the poles at a height of 5 m above the ground.
The lowest point of the rope is 1 m above the ground.
The shape can be modelled by a parabola.
Give the equation of the parabola.

2011的题
(ii) A ball is kicked from the ground and lands at a point 10 m away on the opposite side of a goalpost.
The crossbar of the goalpost is 2 m above the ground.
When the        ball        passes over        the        crossbar,        it        is        at        its        maximum        height of 2.5 m.
Give the equation for the height, h metres, of the ball above the ground at a distance, x metres, from where it was kicked, if the path of the ball is modelled by a parabola.


2013年的题也类似，是给了一组数据要求plot到表格上然后给出公式。也是parabola


在数学题，虽然最终答案才最重要，而且这种一般都是excellence question。不过如果最后一个答案错了，步骤对了还是可以拿到部分分数。

ncea另外的一个好处应该就是flexibility吧，因为理论上是可以穿插着学或者按着自己的兴趣学。我记得当时去ormiston high面试的时候，他们当时的‘政策’就是每个subject学生自选18个credit，而不用考24个, 反正5个subject，每个18也够80分了。因此学生一年只需要靠80不是考120个，学的也比较’精‘。至于这是学校为学生着想还是只是为了拿高分，我不好说。因为这么早就开始’偏科‘不一定是好处，而且将来大学如果需要学不还是跟不上。痛苦的是后面。其次，这样是否有违反新西兰教育大纲我不好说。虽然最终学生都是为了考试而学习的感觉，不过其实应该是为了学习而学习。。。。当然学习可以说我们有学，只是没有考而已。实际上，谁知道呢？一个现实社会，如果学生不需要去考试，那么还真的会去学吗

剑桥和IB
可能有家长会问那Cie呢IB呢
IB我完全不懂。考题什么样子我也没见过。新西兰现在提供ib的学校不多，之前更是少。
CIE我没考过，但是macleans实习的时候我教过，只限year 11 science和year 12 biology. 虽然并不敢自称专家，不过可以简单说一下我观察到的和从老师那儿了解到的。
整体来说cie是个比较传统的考试，也就是年底考一次，按分数算出ABCDE等级。cie可以考的科目也是非常传统也局限的。我不完全确定是否是Ranked。每一个subject就一个考卷，不像ncea分出很多考卷。因此ncea可以偏科，24credit，大约五个paper, 就算一个不考，其他的考的不错，还是可以拿到很不错的80 credits上大学。而cie是全部算一起的。
cie感觉设计的学习内容会比ncea深而且难。比如year 12 biology学了一些我大学才学的东西。。。面对很多内容我都忘得差不多了。。。惭愧惭愧。
不过cie的好处呢，是普遍year 11考ig，year 12考 as level, year 13考a level
而as和a level的分数都是可以上大学的。（相对ncea必须用level 3的成绩）
普遍来说，a level是as level的分数的两倍。
而他也有rank score的

也就是说，一个subject，如果你考的AS level，拿了B, 他是50分，而如果你考的A level拿了B就算100分。而一个A level属于2 subject unit, 一个AS属于一个subject unit，最多可以算6个subject unit的总分。最高分数是3个A+=420分。（因为A level才有A+， 而一个A level等于两个subject unit, 最多可以算三个a level)

那么对于考CIE的同学，year 12考不好，year 13可以再重新考一次AS，或者AS和一起考（比如数学学AS,  英语A). 反正够分数就成。当然也可以year 12拿着as分数直接上大学。


不过有些专业，比如engineering，要求310 with Mathematics and Physics at A Levels.。 也有一些科目是cie没有考过的。所以给出了ncea标准。而且，因为新西兰一般中学只可以学5 subjects，所以不难算出，如果有Ranking需要超过300的科目，在year 12只学了5个subject即使考了5个A, 最多也只能拿300分是不够上这个专业的。





scholarship

在cie我不懂。在ncea, scholarship是单独的一个考卷，而且是自愿报考的。内容应该是高过level 3的excellence水准。 我之前的高中不太给我们补习。。。我靠的分数也一般，因为没有透彻研究过，而且我是year 12的时候考的。貌似分数比较好的都是year 12读了level 3, 然后year 13再考一次。。。。


这个，我就不多解释了，相信有信心报考scholarship的都是好学生，自己都已经有自己的方案了。仅此为家长介绍而已

請問NCEA level 1, 2, 3 全部完成的話是要240 credit，或如你的例子“学校是学5 subjects, 每个24credit, 一共应该是120credit, 第一年拿到80，后面两年拿到60”，都已經是完成了level 1, 2, 3 ？？？

所以说，拿到这个level 1, 2 3的ncea certificate完全不是难度。这个也不是华人家长担心的东西！而且说白了，这东西没什么大用。就好比那些所谓政府免费的computing level 1 certificate, busness level 2，完全木有用！

对于家长担心的应该是是否能拿到UE (university entrance) 也就是42 at level 3, with at least 14 in each of 2 subjects, and another 14 in one or two subjects, as well as 8 literacy credits.

不过这个对于华人学生也毫无压力！就算80 credits也无难度。

比较有压力的是那些想学比如医学啊等高等大学课程，比较担心的应该是80 credits ranked, 而且很多家长不懂的是这个的算法。当然家长对于这个什么Credit啊分数啊一般也有点小迷茫，毕竟和传统的分数制度不太一样

这个，不好说。一部分是’声誉‘和’名声‘问题

其实最终只要能上了大学就好。但是在学校里，比如macleans，同学们之前会说聪明的人考cie, 学习差的才学cea. 所以很多学生为了面子问题还是会选择cie.

这就好比，奥大也好 unitec也好，毕业找到工作了，哪个大学其实无所谓。但是一般社会压力等等会让华人孩子首选奥大，因为排名更好嘛。

马大姐解释的太精辟了，给人的感觉就是CIE是好学生提供的课程，其实只有小部分的公立学校提供CIE和IB课程，还是有很多优秀学生分布在新西兰的不同学校。

和马大姐的观点相同，读书成绩好不等于能力好，这得看工作后的综合能力。大部分工作都是需要和人打交道，这时往往情商比智商更重要。

谢谢马大姐的经验分享和详细的解释，但是对于NCEA的规章制度还是有些云里雾里，也不明白教育部放弃传统百分制通俗易懂的计分方式，把考试制度弄得如此复杂化。还有感觉学校的内部考试基本上就是大家皆大欢喜，人人都有毕业证书。这内部考试每个老师的评分也不同，真不能体现真实的成绩。我家孩子还在小学阶段，等到高中阶段再细细研究，估计那时孩子自己有主见，都不需要我发表意见了。

ncea的评分方式我会找时间解释的。不过这个实在是非常复杂。。。。。而且现在的标准答案更是模糊两可
ncea也不是一无是处，他有他的优势，至于是否是真的优势，还是需要学生自己去感觉。
不过好也罢坏也罢，现在这个国家大多就是这种考试，所以必须还是需要理解适应的

可以这么说，不过普遍新西兰高中还是ncea，除非你想学cambridge，想学ib, 你可能需要特殊去找一下吧。

不过一般有cambridge, ib的同时也会有ncea的

当然，我对cambridge理解不是特别完善，我不好说对比ncea的全部利害
