I agree

I think my credit card is lighter than a phone :-) I doubt iphone can be done lighter than my plastic credit card and drop proof. :-)

Apple Pay is not targeted to replace credit cards, it is just offering another convenient way of paying.
It is solving the problem of not having your credit card / wallet handy at the check out counter, so you have got the option to pay with your phone.

iphone 5 cannot be used against apple pay.
I do have ipad air 2 can be used with apple pay. But it would be strange to bring an ipad to go shopping in countdown.

I refuse to pay nzd1700+ to buy a iphone 7 just to make apple happy to earn my shop transaction fee. I am using visa to do shopping for 10+ years for free.

With both options available (Apple Pay and physical card), I am interested to know why one would insist on using the physical card but not Apple Pay. Perhaps there were some miscommunication / misunderstanding?

When paying with Apple Pay, it is the same amount charged to the consumer similar to using a physical card. E.g. a $10 grocery bill at Countdown is $10 when using a physical card, and when using Apple Pay, it is still $10. The transaction fee charged by Apple is transparent to the consumer.

With all due respect, the scenario you described sounded like device limitations (iPhone 5 not having NFC or iPad Air 2 being too inconvenient to carry around while doing day to day shopping)?

Let's put into perspective, assume you do have got a compatible device that allows you to use Apple Pay conveniently (e.g. iPhone 6/6S/7, iPhone SE, Apple Watch), would you consider start using Apple Pay when possible?

Lastly, interest in your thought about other similar payment methods e.g. Android Pay / Samsung Pay?

I don't understand that why you insist to your apple pay.

Have you lost visa credit card and been used by someone else lots of times before? Which one cost you more if you lose and you report to the bank about your lose? How about I set a pay method and what is your thought about my pay method? :-)

是时候转变观念了，Apple pay的意义不在于创造另外一张更轻更薄的支付卡，而在于淘汰刷卡支付这种落后的支付手段，反正你每天出门都要带手机的，让你的手机更多一些功能不是更好？
按照现在国内支付宝/微信支付的发展状况，我在国内待的一个月身上只带了手机和身份证，实际上还是因为我经常坐高铁的缘故，不然身份证都不用带，一个手机能搞定日常生活所有的衣食住行，方便的不得了。

I think by bring a smart phone with you every day, you are traced by apple, google. They know where you are, what you are doing. It is called privacy. These big company is recording all these events and you are under constant surveillance by bringing a smart phone with you. Can you imagine this? It is happening now.
I am using credit card and they cannot get detail information like smart phone do.

I am not a criminal and I should not be under surveillance by a profit entity i.e. apple, google.

这种情况不是Apple pay或者其他支付方式带来的，你只要用任何Apple或者Android的手机他们理论上就可以监控你，总不能为了privcy，你就用诺基亚吧？

甚至，在国内Video surveillance已经无处不在，只要你生活在城市里，你的一举一动就被监控了，但这确实是公安执法机构破案的重要技术手段，也让我们的生活更加安全。对于科技的发展，我觉得应该分两面去看，内燃机是破坏了环境，但是没有汽车的世界你能想象吗？
我觉得还是不要固步自封，拥抱科技吧，你会感受到便利的，Apple和google在带给你方便的同时用你的一些信息做做广告，我觉得还算公平。而且你忘了就算是米国政府要求Apple破解ISIS恐怖组织成员的iphone手机，apple都拒绝了吗？他们的商业道德我觉得要远远高过你所认为的，既然你默认去政府办事需要递交自己所有的身家资料，那么提交一点点必要信息给为你提供了更多服务的企业，又有什么不合理的。

The arguments of additional transaction fee and privacy about Apple Pay / Android Pay / Samsung Pay is misguiding/misleading to others, and should be clarified or corrected.

I agree that privacy is a valid concern and a very valid point, where Apple / Google have the capability to hold information about our spending behaviour.
Similar things apply to using a physical card, but to a less magnitude.
If the merchant for the POS machine has correct information registered with the banks/credit card company, the information such as location, merchant detail, account holder information, transaction detail is likely to be known to multiple systems integrating to the card issuer (e.g. a fraud prevention system, the bank themselves, payment processor etc.).

There is no additional transaction fee when using Apple Pay vs using a physical card as discussed earlier.

Let's say that I use apple pay.

First I have to go buy a iphone 7 which cost around nzd1700. Apple want me to buy latest iphone, right? :-)
If I lose the iphone, I lose nzd1700.

If I want to use credit card to pay, I visit the bank and ask for a credit card, the bank will give me the credit card for free(Of course, I need to pay yearly fee which will be waived by anz bank cash back if I spend certain amount value). If I lose the card, I need to pay maybe ten dollars to the bank and get another credit card.

I am sure that I bring my credit card with me and if I don't do shopping, the bank won't know all my location, but for iphone, apple knows. :-)

And you are stating majority of the users want to use Apple Pay so they buy an iPhone 7?

IMHO, people buy an iPhone 7, and Apple Pay is just a value add feature. So your point is not valid.

你这不是掩耳盗铃么，只要你用智能手机，不管是Iphone5还是7，或者是Android，你的位置信息都是分分钟被tracking的，你用credit card付账的同时你的手机照样上传你的位置信息，然后通过你停留时间的长短进行行为分析，你觉得有什么差别么。。。。我想你是时候考虑用回Nokia，并现金付账了，Nobody knows what ru doing then~

Partially correct about location being tracked every seconds, that can be turned off.

But again, what has discussed is not related to Apple Pay.
Someone brings an iPhone to Countdown, if the Location service turned on, Apple may already know s/he is in Countdown.
There is a confusion of the concept of using Apple Pay vs. using a smartphone. We are discussing about using Apple Pay here, not about using a smartphone.
