Is it common in nz to ask empolyer to pay for programming books? i.e. ask employer to cover yearly fee for https://www.safaribooksonline.com?

Thanks in advance

I am not willing to pay myself for the knowledge used in work i.e. angular 2 books and I am not willing to pirate the books.

all my work related books are paid by employer, it depends...., you can ask though, give it a try first.
