This position need good communication skills with site manager (Both written and verbal)
This position requires a strong understanding of structural engineering principles, proficiency in CAD software, and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in the fabrication and assembly of steel components.
This role involves translating engineering designs and specifications into precise technical drawings that can be used by fabricators and construction teams to build steel structures such as buildings, and industrial facilities.
1.Understand Design Requirements: Review the engineering design plans and specifications to understand the requirements for the steel elements. This includes identifying the types of steel members (beams, columns, trusses, etc.) and their intended locations within the structure.
2.Refer to New Zealand Standards: Familiarize yourself with relevant New Zealand construction standards and codes that govern the design, fabrication, and transportation of steel structures.
3.Calculate Lengths and Dimensions: Use mathematical calculations and structural analysis to determine the required lengths and dimensions of steel elements. This may involve considering factors such as loads, span lengths, deflection limits, and connection details.
4.Account for Transportation Requirements: Take into consideration transportation constraints when determining the lengths of steel elements. This includes limitations on the length and weight of steel members for transportation to the construction site, as well as any requirements for special handling or escort vehicles.
5.Document and Communicate: Document your calculations and dimensioning decisions clearly in the construction drawings and specifications. Communicate any special requirements or considerations to the fabrication and construction teams to ensure that the steel elements are fabricated and installed correctly.
6.Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance measures to verify that the fabricated steel elements meet the specified dimensions and tolerances before they are transported to the construction site. This may involve inspections and testing to ensure compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
