Compensation Grant and refund payments
The University has now put in place procedures for the payment of the compensation grant, international aid grant, and refunds for parking permits and recreation centre membership fees.
Application forms for these grants/refunds will be available on the UC website (Intranet for staff) from 12noon on Monday 2 May 2011 and need to be submitted by Friday 3 June 2011.
Payments will be made on 9, 16, 23, 30 May and 13 June 2011.
Compensation Grant:The University will pay a pro-rata compensation grant to all students who are enrolled as of 1 May 2011 and have paid their fees. The grant is in recognition of the physical damage and disruption the February earthquake caused to the University’s infrastructure, which has led to a reduction in the quality of services.
·
The grant will be paid to New Zealand domestic and international full fee paying students who have paid their fees for 2011.
·
It will also be paid to students who have taken up exchanges to the University of Adelaide and other New Zealand universities who will be returning to UC for semester two.
·
It is not a refund of tuition fees or of the Student Services Levy.
·
The grant will be $500 for students enrolled as of 1 May 2011 whose study exceeds 0.5 EFTS and $250 for students enrolled as of 1 May 2011 whose study is 0.5 EFTS or less.
·
Students can choose to have the grant paid into their bank account, to their student loan account at Studylink or to the UC Foundation.
The online application for this grant, called the Payment Option Confirmation application, will be available on the UC website from 12noon on Monday 2 May.
International Grant in Aid:
International students who will remain at UC for the second semester are eligible for a $500 International Grant in Aid. This is in recognition of the financial hardships international students may have experienced while away from their home country, and who may have incurred additional costs not normally anticipated.
·
To receive this grant, international students must have accepted their offer of place at UC, completed immigration and insurance requirements, and have paid their tuition and other fees by 22 February 2011.
·
International students can apply for this grant using the same form as the compensation grant.
·
Those not eligible for this grant, due to transfer and not returning to UC for semester two, are Study Abroad Programme Students (one semester), Study Abroad Independents (one semester) and Reciprocal Exchange Students (one semester).
