It will also help verify the number of people who may still be missing."),如果不能与红十字会取得联系,也可以向当地的Council注明自己的身份(下面文章的后半部分是联系方式)!
注意,Otago官方的要求是必须注册,无论短期还是长期在Otago地区居住——都要注册!还希望从基督城来这边的华人朋友注意一下!!!!
下面是信件的原始内容:
MEDIA RELEASE
Monday March 7
Christchurch evacuees urged to register in Otago
People arriving in Otago, displaced by the Christchurch earthquake, are being urged to register their presence.
Regardless of their circumstances or intentions, people who have moved away from Christchurch, following last month’s earthquake, should register with the Red Cross, even if this is a temporary arrangement. Call 0800 REDCROSS (0800 733 276).
Evacuees should also update their details with Red Cross when they move on to another location.
Registering will help Red Cross Family Link to reunite friends, and family. It will also help verify the number of people who may still be missing.
Otago Civil Defence Emergency Management Group (CDEM) controller Wayne Scott said every person displaced from Christchurch coming south to stay in any part of Otago should register with the Red Cross.
If this was not possible people should register at their city or district council.
“Obtaining an accurate picture of the numbers of displayed people who have come to Otago will be important in the future to support those who have been affected by the Christchurch Earthquake,” Mr Scott said.
“It’s really important that people register so that services needed by those who have experienced the earthquake can be better targeted as the recovery phase progresses.”
Red Cross is managing a database of displaced people that are registered. The Red Cross Assistance 0800 REDCROSS line will provide access to this information.
Those unable to register with the Red Cross in the first instance should contact their local council as follows:
Waitaki District Council, 20 Thames St, Oamaru – 03 433 0300
Dunedin City Council, The Octagon - Ph 03 477 4000
Clutha District Council 1 Rosebank St, Balclutha – Ph 0800 801 350
Central Otago District Council, 1 Dunorling St, Alexandra – Ph 03 440 0056
Queenstown Lakes District Council10 Gorge Road, Queenstown - Ph 03 441 0499
Wanaka Office, 47 Ardmore Street - Ph 03 443 0024
