Position: Workshop Assistant / Management Trainee
(Assistant manager available depends on experience and qualifications)

Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time

JM Motor Ltd is based in Christchurch and runs business in the automotive industry. As an accredited employer, we can support work visas. Now we looking for a motivated individual to join our panel beating department and operate the workshop.

Our owner is a Chinese speaker, and our company operates within an Asian cultural framework. We seek candidates who are hardworking, adaptable, and able to thrive under pressure.

Job Start Date: April 1, 2025

Qualifications & Experience:

1. Applying for Workshop Assistant :
● No qualification and experience requirement
NZ minimum wage. Need to follow orders to complete daily tasks.

2. Applying for Management Trainee:
● Education & Experience Requirements:
○ Bachelor's degree with 1 year of full-time work experience, OR
○ Diploma with 2 years of full-time work experience, OR
○ High School qualification with 3 years of full-time work experience.
A half-year training program will be offered for this position, with wages of $24.5 per hour. Upon successful completion of the training and meeting all required standards, you will be promoted to Assistant Workshop Manager. No related experience is required; all applicants are welcome. Overseas working experience are also acceptable.

3. Applying for Assistant Workshop Manager directly:
● Education & Experience Requirements:
○ Bachelor's degree with 2 years of full-time RELATED work experience, OR
○ Diploma with 3 years of full-time RELATED work experience, OR
○ High School qualification with 5 years of full-time RELATED work experience.
This position will be offered to applicants who can basically handle the daily operations of the workshop, with wages of $28 per hour. There is an opportunity for promotion to Workshop Manager after 1.5 to 2 years.

Related experience, which includes but is not limited to: team leadership, car parts, panel beating, mechanics, and business management, is preferred.

Other Requirements:
For all applicants:
• A valid New Zealand full driver’s license is required, and the ability to drive a manual vehicle is a must.
• Must be a New Zealand citizen, resident, or hold a valid work visa.

For applicants who apply management post:
• Fluency in English is essential, with strong writing skills also being important.
• New Zealand life experience is required (work or study); overseas applications will not be accepted.
