[size=13.3333330154419px]This is a 1 year, part-time course run by Skills Update Training Institute (Located in Mangere) for Manukau Instituted of Technology. [size=13.3333330154419px]


Entry requirements for the programme are:

•             You must be a NZ Citizen or Permanent Resident (and must provide an original birth certificate, passport or Official letter of citizenship)   

•             You must be at least 16 years of age

•             You cannot be doing any other free course at the same time as this course (some exclusions apply)

*If you meet the above criteria, the course is FREE of charge.

Note: There is a minimum English language requirement as stated in the brochure

You also must be able to commit to:

• 1 x 3 hour class per week on Thursday evenings
• If you are not currently working in the industry, you must be able to attend an additional 3 hour practical training at Skills Update per week (Class time being Thursdays 2.30pm – 8.30 pm to cover practical as well as theory)
• If you are currently working in the industry, you must have a supervisor/manager at work who is willing to sign off that you are doing practical work there during your normal work hours, (unless you can attend the practical sessions from 2.30 – 5.30 as well as the class from 5.30 – 8.30pm Thursdays).
• You must have access to a personal computer that you can use for 3 hours per week (outside of class time) for Moodle (which you will be shown. Basic computer skills required).  This is a basic programme which you log into (as you do for Facebook or email), where your tutor will post questions weekly and you will write answers and can comment on what other students write.
