About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Import Operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in international freight forwarding, excellent operational skills, and the ability to communicate fluently in both English and Mandarin. This role requires hands-on experience with CargoWise and a solid understanding of New Zealand import processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end import operations Air, LCL, FCL, ensuring smooth and timely cargo movement from overseas origins to final delivery.

• Liaise regularly with overseas offices, agents, and service providers to maintain accurate shipment status and ensure deadlines are met.

• Prepare and process all import documentation accurately, ensuring full compliance with legal, customs, and company requirements.

• Maintain effective communication with internal teams and external partners to ensure operational efficiency.

• Negotiate with suppliers and service providers to achieve the best outcomes while meeting time-sensitive requirements (e.g., cut-offs, special handling).

• Provide professional and solution-oriented customer service to clients, promptly addressing inquiries or issues.

• Report to the Import Manager on a regular basis, providing updates on client/supplier feedback, operational workload, and process improvements.

• Work proactively with a positive “can-do” attitude and commercial awareness.

Key Requirements (Must-Have)

• Minimum 2 years of experience working in an import team within a freight forwarding company in New Zealand.

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience using CargoWise for import operations.

• Fluent in Mandarin (both written and spoken) — essential due to the company’s strong business focus on the Chinese market.

• Strong understanding of international shipping documentation, incoterms, and import regulations.

• Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
