MANUALLY SPECIFY DNS SERVERS (Spark)
If you are having trouble accessing a website, even though it appears you have a valid connection, you can try manually specifying your DNS server settings. Try entering 210.55.11.13 into the address bar. If it brings up the Spark webpage but www.spark.co.nz doesn't, it is more than likely your Internet connection has an issue with its DNS settings.
Spark uses several DNS servers, but these are the most common ones:
Server IP Address*
Primary 122.56.237.1
Secondary 210.55.111.1
For Windows 8:
Locate your network connection and click it Image
Click Change settings of this connection Image
If you cannot see this option, you may need to maximise the screen
Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
Click Properties Image
Select Use the following DNS server addresses Image
Type the applicable DNS server addresses into the boxes from above
Click OK
Click OK
For Windows 7:
Click Start menu
Click Control Panel
Click View
Select Category in the top right corner
Double-click Network and Internet
Go to Network and Sharing Center
Click Change adapter settings
Right-click your network connection (usually Local Area Connection)
Click Properties
Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
Click Properties
Select Use The Following DNS Server Addresses
Type the applicable DNS server addresses into the boxes from above
Click OK
Click Close
For Windows Vista:
Click Start menu
Select Control Panel
Click Network and Sharing Center
Click Manage Network Connections
Double-click the connection to your modem (usually Local Area Connection)
Click Properties
Double-click Internet Protocol TCP/IP
Select Use The Following DNS Server Addresses
Type the applicable DNS server addresses into the boxes from above
Click OK
Windows XP:
Click Start menu
Select Control Panel
Click Network Connections (this may be under 'Network and Internet' in Category view)
Double-click the connection to your modem (usually Local Area Connection)
Click Properties
Double-click Internet Protocol TCP/IP
Select Use The Following DNS Server Addresses
Type the applicable DNS server addresses into the boxes from above
Click OK
Mac OSX:
Click Apple menu
Select System Preferences
Click Network
Select the connection type under Show (usually Built-in Ethernet for wired or Airport for wireless)
Click Advanced
Click DNS
If there are any current DNS entries, remove each by highlighting the entry and clicking -
Click +
Type the applicable primary DNS server address from above into the box that appeared under DNS servers
Click OK
Click +
Type the applicable secondary DNS server address from above into the box that appeared under DNS servers |
