Can I sponsor my brother, sister or adult child?Sponsorship eligibility
To sponsor your brother, sister or adult child you must:
complete a signed and witnessed Sponsorship Form for Residence in New Zealand PDF (INZ 1024) [126KB]
attach evidence of your immigration status
be 18 years of age or over
be in New Zealand
be a New Zealand or Australian citizen, or the holder of a current residence class visa that is not subject to requirements under Section 49(1) of the Immigration Act 2009
have been a New Zealand or Australian citizen and/or a residence class visa holder (or a residence permit/returning resident’s visa holder) for at least three years immediately before the Sibling or Adult Child residence application is received by Immigration New Zealand, and
have spent a total of 184 days or more in New Zealand in each of the three 12-month portions in that three-year period.
A sponsor must undertake to ensure that the applicant has financial support and accommodation for at least the first 24 months the applicant is a resident in New Zealand. A sponsor aged 18 to 24 must satisfy us that they are able to meet the undertakings given on the sponsorship form. |
