Make a specific plan
I’mnot talking about making a wish list which, like New Year’sresolutions, will be forgotten by the third week of January. You want aplan that has specific goals for your job (what’s the best role for younext?) and your income (exactly how much would you like to be making bythe end of 2009?). Writing down your plans makes them concrete, andit's more likely you will attain them.


Settinga plan is easy but hard to follow up. A little achievement makes mehappy all the time if i follow my plan. However, it wont last for long.From my view, don't put over details in your plan (especially yourbudget).

SWOT yourself
Behonest with yourself. Review your strengths -- like what you’ve gotthat can move you ahead; weaknesses -- like those things you have or dothat are holding you back; opportunities -- things you can pursue atthe company or in the industry; and threats -- things that can derailyou or sabotage your efforts to move ahead.

Update your resume
Smartcareerists are always ready for the next opportunity. Taking time toreview and modify your resume before you want to send it to someonemakes it a better product. This is often your first introduction to anew employer or boss -- so make sure it’s topnotch.

Resume is always being upgraded while you are growing.

Invest in your career
Mostpeople forget they really have two jobs. The first is to do what youget paid for and do it better than others. The second is to do what’srequired to ensure that your career isn’t left to someone’s wrongopinions that were made in your absence. Be in the office when yourboss is. It gives you additional opportunity to let him or her get toknow you for things other then the job you're currently filling.

Youcan get free lessons learning by yourself, you can join volunteer jobto make you feel valuable. Of course, you can pay money on youreducation force yourself do something other than slept on the bed untilthe moon raise up.

Get financially smart
Getinvolved with managing your financial affairs. Paying attention tomoney matters is one of the smartest and easiest ways to improve yourpersonal balance sheet. There are many books and online courses on thesubject of money management basics. Looking after your financial healthdoesn’t take a lot of time; but it could save your life.

Economic is getting worse. Save money as you can

Develop a sense of urgency
Manypeople think that working hard, being busy, and burning a lot of energyis equal to managing their career and life. It’s not. Developing asense of urgency means knowing how to pick through all those “to-do’s”and focusing your time and energy on just the ones that count.

ummh,that means it doesn't prove that how quick or busy you did through, itmeans which better way you did, save time and energy.

Look up, not down
Whendownsizing is the operative word, developing your team is no longer thesmartest way to ensure success. Spend less time with your staff membersand more time looking after your boss' needs. When you show that you'reworking hard to make him or her look good, you'll stand out from thecrowd. And your boss will be more likely to provide you with theresources that you and your team need to do the job better.

Boss is always the BOSS.

Update your skill set
Itcommonly pays to demonstrate that you are interested in “upgrading”yourself -- and in 2009, your ability to grow may be more importantthan ever. With unemployment now at record highs, demand for jobsgreatly exceeds supply. Not staying on par with colleagues and thosevying for your job will be a death knell. Take seminars, do coursework,or leverage other vehicles to get on the leading edge and thus,maximize your personal value to the organization.

That's true. For these lucky ones who did not lose their jobs, get chance to learn more stuffs.

Faceit: Often, decisions are made affecting who gets moved upward and whogets downsized without your involvement. It’s important that thedecision makers know you and what you are doing. Have regular meetingswith your boss or send regular e-mails to update those in charge aboutyour contributions.

Look after your loved ones
Oneway or another, when 2009 is done and over, you’ll still be here andyou're going to want those you care about to still be with you. Whileit’s important to look after your job and career, don’t neglect thosewho make life most worthwhile. Tell them you care and spend time withthem "just for fun."
