Please join us in making history this Wednesday 20 October.
20/10/2010 Fairness at Work Day of Action is set to be the biggest mobilisation of union members since the Employment Contracts Act was passed in 1991. We need you to be part of it.
Nearly all 58,000 PSA members* have been released to attend paid two-hour stop work meetings on Wednesday 20 as part of a Council of Trade Unions campaign against unfair, unnecessary and unworkable changes to employment laws.
The government has instigated a full-on attack to undermine fairness at work and to tip the balance of power in favour of employers. The changes include extending the removal of rights to appeal unfair dismissal to all work places and allowing employers to request a sick note even for 1 day off. Unions in New Zealand have vowed to campaign against these changes and to protect your rights at work.
Wednesday's Day of Action is the cornerstone of this campaign.
There are multi-union meetings being held from Kaitaia to Bluff. You can find your nearest meeting and more information about these changes being imposed on New Zealand workers at Fairness at Work
At the meeting you will be given a certificate of attendance which you must give to your employer to make sure you are paid. The certificate also includes a message to your employer about the purpose of the meeting.
The Fairness at Work campaign colour is orange so wear something orange to your meeting. |
