4 R8 x7 K K( U) FA new approach to deciding dog access to parks and beaches will also start in 2013. Dog access
$ S7 N, V$ C: Q4 W. x8 B. _ tdecisions will be made by local boards for local parks and beaches, and by the Parks, Recreation5 P0 w8 y4 w* ?& ~
and Heritage Forum for parks and beaches of regional significance. Submissions requesting' ?9 D5 F7 f! ^. X; @
changes to dog access rules will be referred to local boards and the forum to consider using the# d# m) e7 r/ S4 t! m
new decision-making principles, criteria and guidance.

adopt a standard summer beach time and season of 10am and 5pm, Labour Weekend to 1 March,

local boards have reviewed all beach dog access rules in each area. The review will identify the3 @% A: l) y7 L1 r7 U3 C
most appropriate mix of dog access rules for our beaches. This might mean that the new summer
) z% P/ U5 U8 S% z$ x5 @5 D* atimes and season will apply to some beaches, while for other beaches dogs may be allowed under
( E% V) a& {2 t8 [8 Econtrol off a leash at all times. The need to carry out this review and work out the best way to
$ m6 y( X" o6 r( O) Y) mmanage the safe interaction between people and dogs means that until those decisions are made9 @$ G% u/ k1 L$ C
the current dog access rules (which use a mixture of times and dates across Auckland) will
