decisions will be made by local boards for local parks and beaches, and by the Parks, Recreation. X+ H1 h5 n( I l# M) B
and Heritage Forum for parks and beaches of regional significance. Submissions requesting; U7 Q( V: G" i' v) x, ~
changes to dog access rules will be referred to local boards and the forum to consider using the
$ [, J4 E0 }4 H) Unew decision-making principles, criteria and guidance.% C) T" B5 k" X4 ]5 Z$ z
One of the new criteria – raised by the majority of submissions - are standard times and seasons to
: w- T1 `+ H+ C( I# ~! ube used wherever a time and season dog access rule is used on a beach. The decision was to, M5 U: Z0 K0 f1 F5 y7 @
adopt a standard summer beach time and season of 10am and 5pm, Labour Weekend to 1 March,
- b4 o' }4 b$ _* ?" |and to exempt its application on Hauraki Gulf islands (including Waiheke Island and Great Barrier0 ^ Z' X$ q; Q- W

However, the new standard summer time and season will not be in effect until the forum and, u; l- c8 v. q9 s1 w
local boards have reviewed all beach dog access rules in each area. The review will identify the
5 Z( {# v5 {+ R$ b/ e1 i1 |0 r4 \most appropriate mix of dog access rules for our beaches. This might mean that the new summer! c9 O; h- s, }8 T
times and season will apply to some beaches, while for other beaches dogs may be allowed under) B: J% ~8 Q& w/ M/ F
