Harvest the last of your summer veggies, store potatoes, pumpkin and onions in a cool dry area. In their place, plant winter seedlings such as broccoli, carrots and cabbage directly into your garden bed. In areas that are getting cold, remove tomato plants and ripen any green fruits on the window sill.
Autumn is here, and it's the main harvest time for apples, pears, grapes and many other varieties of fruit. If you are planting fruit trees at this time of year choose hardy frost resistant varieties such as feijoas. Put them in a position of full sun, either into containers or they can be made into a hedge.
